Meet Our Dedicated Volunteers

In honour of National Volunteer Week, we shared the stories of some dedicated volunteers at Rebound. Read them below!

In a very short period of time, Jack has become a celebrated Rebound volunteer. Since early 2021, he has volunteered as a virtual tutor for a young man struggling in math through Rebound’s READbound tutoring program 📚 and the two of them are seeing amazing improvements from their time together!

As one of Rebound’s long standing volunteers, Carol has demonstrated intense commitment to Rebound and to her role as a valued volunteer, both as a tutor and a member of Rebound’s Youth Justice Committee.

Bhakti is a young volunteer dedicated to supporting students while also being a student herself – she juggles volunteering with completing the first year of her post-secondary studies. Virtual tutoring with Rebound can be a wonderfully enriching volunteer experience for those looking to give back to their home communities, even when circumstances pull them away.

“I’ve learnt that when you volunteer not only are you contributing to the welfare of the community but my responsibility as a volunteer, enhances the lives of others and to me personally. Understanding others, helps me understand myself, and the community around me.”

The first thing I did when I retired at the end of January 2019 was come into Rebound the following week to apply to be a volunteer. I had known for a long time that this was the organization I wanted to support with my time once I had more of it to give.

Michelle is a dedicated Trinity College School tutor in the READbound program who understands that there is so much to be gained from the volunteer experience. Read about what she had to tell us about its importance in her life here.

Matt’s desire to volunteer with Rebound was a dream come true for the organization. In addition to being the inspiration to several young people at Rebound, Matt also spreads his time and musical talents to other worthy causes. His volunteering spirit is an inspiration to all who know him.

As a Trinity College School volunteer tutor, Haoran has shown commitment and dedication for the past two school years. For Haoran, volunteering has a mutual benefit – for him, tutoring is helping him to discover new talents he might never have had the opportunity to find otherwise. Read about Haoran’s volunteer journey here.

Nina has chosen to devote herself as a volunteer tutor thanks to Trinity College School’s ongoing partnership with Rebound. Her dedication to young people’s development and well-being is inspiring.

Alicia Wang is a dedicated Trinity College tutor who recognizes the importance of volunteering for her own personal development and understanding of the importance of contributing to society. As a teenager, she find tutoring to be an empowering way to make a difference at a very young age. Read more about Alicia here.

Izzy is one of our valued Trinity College School high school volunteers, who calls volunteering with youth “incredibly rewarding” and a learning experience that allows her to “grow and flourish”. What could be better than that?
