Why do you feel it’s important to volunteer as a youth?
I believe that volunteering at a young age is essential for me as it creates a positive impact extending into the community and beyond school. While students’ ability to provide services to the community is restricted by their ages, volunteering can help others discover unlocked talents and allow them access to more opportunities in life. The impacts would then reward me with happiness and pride.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about volunteering as a tutor?
The best advice I would give would be to smile! Rather than solely academic assistance, volunteering builds a relationship between the tutor and the student. Smiling at your tutor sessions creates affinity and helps to bring you and your students closer. It also helps them alleviate school frustration and creates position emotions when they see you smile.
