Privacy Policy

 Rebound Child and Youth Services is committed to maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of all client, staff, volunteer, and donor personal information. Our standards meet the privacy standards outlined by legislation, including Ontario’s Personal Health Information Act (PHIPA) and Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

Collection of Information—Clients

For the purposes of our services, we collect personal and health information including name, address, date of birth, personal and family information related to the service.

Collection of Information—Personnel

For the purposes of employment, volunteer, or consultation services, we collect personal information that may include name, address, SIN, educational certifications/qualifications, professional registration, and criminal record check.

Accuracy of Personal Information

Upon being informed of change to personal information, Rebound Child and Youth Services will promptly correct information that is incorrect or should be updated.

Protection of Privacy

Staff, volunteers, the Board of Directors, and other personnel are bound to an agreement of confidentiality upon the beginning of their work with Rebound Child and Youth Services which requires the safeguarding of all personal information obtained. Personal information is stored securely in paper or electronic form with access restricted only to authorized personnel and the appropriate security measures in place.

Use of Electronic Communication

In some cases, Rebound offers virtual support by means of video, audio, email, and text communication. While Rebound employs strict confidentiality policies and processes to keep your information secure, it is acknowledged that electronic communication may not be completely secure, increasing the risk that health information may be intercepted or disclosed to third parties. Before using electronic communication, informed consent will be documented from each client and family by outlining our processes, the risks involved, and suggesting methods for clients to keep their personal information private when communicating electronically.

Use of Your Information—Clients

Personal information may be used in the provision of services, to help us improve our services, to inform you of programs and events, or for fundraising purposes. Personal information is not released to anyone outside of Rebound Child and Youth Services unless consent is provided by clients or their caregivers. Exceptions include the notification of appropriate authorities in the case of personal information that pertains to suspected child protection concerns, risk of harm, or in the event of subpoena order. Personal information may be used for research and program evaluation purposes, and for reporting as required by funders and governments.

Use of Your Information—Personnel

Personal information may be used in the conducting of regular operations. Information is not released without the consent of the employee.

Use of your Information—Donors/Volunteers

Information about donors and volunteers is not released without their consent.

Retention of Records

Personal information is stored actively as long as is needed for the services or programs provided and then stored for a length of time that is required by legislation for the service provided. Access to Personal Information and Records Each person has the right to access the personal information collected by Rebound Child and Youth Services subject to applicable policies and legislation.
