Counselling at Rebound

Rebound’s counselling services include planned, collaborative interventions that focus on reducing and/or resolving severe emotional, social, behavioural, and self-regulation problems experienced by children and youth. Services are provided within the context of the family and community, and can be delivered at Rebound’s office or through secure virtual platforms.

Ages 7-18

Brief Services

Brief Services include planned, collaborative interventions that focus on reducing and/or resolving severe emotional, social, behavioural, and self-regulation problems experienced by children and youth. What makes Brief Services unique is its quick access 4-6 session format, which immediately addresses the needs that are present among children and youth.

Through Parallel Care, parents are taught strategies for supporting their children and youth as they pursue Brief Services.

Walk-In Counselling Clinic

In partnership with the Northumberland Hills Hospital Community Counselling Centre, the Walk-In Counselling Clinic supports children, youth, and adults. Rebound’s counsellors are available every Tuesday and Thursday to support a child or youth who is in need of immediate, same-day services.

Youth Diversion Program

Rebound partners will all Police Services in Northumberland County to deliver the Extrajudicial Measures Program to young persons in conflict with the law.

The Extrajudicial Measures Program is designed to provide young people with the opportunity to be held accountable for their actions, without having formal criminal charges laid against them.

Referral to this program is by Police Services only.


Emotional Self-Regulation Programming

Hosted by Rebound’s skilled counselling team, Emotional Self-Regulation (ESR) is an eight-week group program that was clinically designed and researched for young people who are struggling to cope with their emotions.

ESR groups explore topics such as anxiety, stress, internalizing, and externalizing.

Parenting Support

Triple P – Positive Parenting Program

Provided by Rebound and Positive Parenting Northumberland, the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is an internationally-recognized program that gives parents the confidence and skills they need to build strong family relationships, manage behaviours, and prevent problems. Rebound offers Triple P to all parents in Northumberland County, free of charge, as part of the Positive Parenting Northumberland Network.

Triple P is delivered independently as well as via Parallel Care through our Brief Services program.

FASD Caregiver Support Group

This is a support group for parents and caregivers of someone with FASD (diagnosed or suspected). New members are always welcome!

Literacy & Learning

READbound Tutoring

READbound is a positive skills-based tutoring program which matches students with a volunteer tutor. Students work with their tutor to develop lifelong learning habits and skills that support confident learning outcomes. The primary focus is improving reading, comprehension, writing, and math skills.
