Mary Ellen French

Mary Ellen obtained her B.A., Hons (English) and her BEd. concurrently from Queen’s University in 1987/88 and spent the first 11 years of her career teaching English and Math in Northwestern Ontario.

She and her husband moved to Northumberland in 1999 and started their family, raising two children. Mary Ellen went on to become a vice-principal and then a principal with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board until she retired at the end of January 2019. Mary Ellen is passionate about building relationships as the foundation to good learning and healthy communities.

In addition to joining the Rebound Board of Directors, Mary Ellen is the Chair of the Board of Directors for Project New Moon Non-Profit Services in Cobourg and the Director of Learning at Study Partners in Cobourg. Mary Ellen loves spending time with her family, cooking, reading, and yoga; when the weather permits, you can find her on the water kayaking or on land golfing.
