We were delighted to present the Lynn McMillan Resiliency Bursary to Alyssa Myers at our 20th Anniversary Annual General Meeting held on September 20th at Victoria Hall in Cobourg.

The Lynn McMillan Resiliency Bursary is presented annually to a Rebound client or volunteer who has shown remarkable resiliency and is attending a post-secondary institution or registered in an apprenticeship program.

Alyssa exemplifies the spirit of the award, having overcome bullying, depression, anxiety, and a diagnosis of Asperger’s.   Alyssa has turned her past adversity into developing her future career goals. Alyssa is planning on a career in Nursing with a focus on Mental Health, and aspires to giving back to her community by creating an inpatient Mental Health Clinic for youth like herself.  For Alyssa, accepting her diagnosis and learning to love herself has helped her to be the strong, empathetic and caring person she is today.

“This Bursary will help me complete my goal and hopefully help many others” she stated. Alyssa is looking forward to terrific year at school and a bright future.

Alyssa Myers is seen here accepting “The Lynn McMillan Resiliency Bursary” from Rebound Child & Youth Services volunteer Lynn McMillan.
